Children’s vision
Understanding Amblyopia
Amblyopia is reduced vision that develops when the brain and an eye do not work together normally during childhood. One eye is usually affected, though both can be involved.
Common signs
- Reduced vision that may go unnoticed
- Squinting or shutting one eye
- Difficulty judging depth
Assessment & care
Treatment addresses the underlying cause, such as an unequal glasses prescription or squint. Clinician-directed patching or prescribed drops may encourage use of the weaker eye. Early assessment is important.
Your eye specialist will recommend care based on your examination. Contact the clinic to confirm treatment availability.
