Understanding Ptosis
Ptosis means that the upper eyelid sits lower than usual. It can occur in one or both eyes and may block part of the field of vision.
Common signs
- A visibly drooping upper eyelid
- Difficulty seeing under the lid
- A child tipping their head back to see
Assessment & care
Assessment looks at eyelid position, muscle function and the underlying cause. Management may involve treating that cause or eyelid surgery, depending on the effect on vision.
Your eye specialist will recommend care based on your examination. Contact the clinic to confirm treatment availability.
